Understanding Rangefinder Specifications

  • Max Range: Maximum distance measurement capability in yards/meters, generally on reflective targets like light coloured rocks and buildings.
  • Accuracy: Margin of error at various distances, typically ±1 yard or better.
  • Magnification: How many times closer or larger an object appears. Higher isn't always better, ask us about the drawbacks.
  • Angle Compensation: Accounts for uphill/downhill shooting for true horizontal distance.
  • Display Type: LCD, LED, or OLED with various brightness settings for different conditions.

Choosing the Right Rangefinder

  • Hunting: Models with angle compensation. Pay attention to how close it will range if you are a bow hunter. Ballistic calculations are nice if you are a rifle hunter.
  • Golf: Tournament-legal models with flag-lock technology and vibration confirmation.
  • Tactical/Military: Ruggedized construction with ballistic calculators and extended range.
  • Archery: Short-range precision with bow mode for accurate angle compensation.
